Brandon Flowers Facts

Brandon Flowers was born on July 21, 1981, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He spent most of his childhood growing up in the small town of Nephi, Utah. During his junior year of high school, his family moved back to Las Vegas. He is currently the vocalist and keyboardist for the popular American band, The Killers.

Early Musical Career

After moving back to Las Vegas, Brandon dropped out of college and spent much of his spare time playing in various keyboard bands while working as a bellhop at the Gold Coast and Cesar's Palace hotels. The most known of these small keyboard bands was called Blush Response.

Inspiration

Brandon was dropped by Blush Response in 2002. Later that year he attended an Oasis concert, where was inspired to devote all of his musical energy to a rock band. Soon after the concert, Brandon responded to a scouting ad in a Las Vegas newspaper. The ad was taken out by Dave Keuning, and Brandon and Dave got to know each others' interests and nearly instantly began writing songs together.

The Formation of The Killers

Brandon Flowers and Dave Keuning were joined by a bassist named Mark Stoermer, and later drummer named Ronnie Vannucci. Shortly after, these four band members became The Killers.

Controversy

Brandon is known for creating controversy. He has initiated controversy between The Killers and other bands including Fall Out Boy and Panic! at the Disco by suggesting that emo music was "dangerous." Later, however, Brandon apologized to the bands and stated that he is very opinionated and not proud of his jealous tendencies.

Personal Life

Brandon married his long-time girlfriend Tana in a private ceremony in Hawaii. They now have two children. Flowers is an active Mormon, but admits to smoking and drinking in order to cope with his fear of flying. He quit smoking recently in order to maintain a healthy singing voice.
