Free Las Vegas Attractions For Kids

The MGM Grand hotel and casino has live lions inside.

While Las Vegas offers many activities and attractions for adults, children's activities are not as easy to find. Gambling and clubbing are out when it comes to minors, but many free shows along the Las Vegas strip appeal to both children and their parents. Take advantage of a few of these attractions to keep kids entertained while sticking to your vacation budget.

The Erupting Volcano

Let your children experience the thrill of an erupting volcano at the Mirage hotel and casino. Eruptions occur hourly each night from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and include fireworks, sound effects and even heat to simulate the experience of a real eruption.

Lion Habitat

Watch live lions inside the MGM Grand hotel and casino each day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. These lions live on a ranch outside of Las Vegas and a few are transported to the casino's glass enclosed area each day for public viewing. The MGM Grand website states that the lions are descendants of the MGM studio lion, seen in the studio's logo and the opening sequence of MGM movies.

Circus Acts

Circus acts take place inside the Adventuredome, an indoor amusement park at the Circus Circus hotel and casino, from 11 a.m. to midnight each day. The acts vary from day to day and occur on a stage in the midway area. No admission is required to enter the Adventuredome and watch the show but you will need to pay to experience the rides and play any carnival games.

Fall of Atlantis

Take children to an animatronic reenactment of the fall of Atlantis inside the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. The show includes a king and his two feuding children along with fire and water special effects and even a dragon. The Fall of Atlantis begins every hour on the hour from 11 a.m. to midnight right in front of The Cheesecake Factory.

Pirate Ship Battle

Witness a pirate battle complete with live actors and a sinking ship in front of the Treasure Island hotel and casino. Shows occur approximately every 90 minutes from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the winter and 7:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. in the summer, weather permitting. Be advised that strollers are not permitted in the viewing area and the show features scantily clad women and theatrical violence so it may not be appropriate for young children.
