1958 Ford Vehicle Colors

Refer to color specifications from the year a car was created for historical accuracy during restoration.

Classic cars often require restoration to reflect their historical beauty. Enthusiasts make every effort to match cars to their original condition. Frequently, years of use or storage have dulled or marred a once-pristine paint job and touch-ups or complete repainting may be required. The original colors of Ford's 1958 vehicle line can be recreated from old records maintained by Ford and the paint companies. These colors can be recreated to restore a vehicle and make it appear as new as the day it was purchased for the first time.

1958 Ford Car Colors

Ford produced a line of cars in 1958 that was available in twelve different colors. Vehicles were also created in a two-color scheme, in which two colors from the existing line were used to produce a dual-tone effect on different areas of the vehicle.

Blues

The 1958 Ford lineup included three shades of blue. Owners could choose from Azure Blue, the lightest of the blue shades, Gulfstream Blue, a more muted blue-green, and Silvertone Blue Poly, a traditional deep blue.

Green

The 1958 Ford lineup included two shades of green: Seaspray Green and Silvertone Green Poly. Seaspray was a light green that coordinated with the darker, more serious Silvertone Green Poly.

Neutrals

Neutral tones available on 1958 Fords included Desert Beige, Palomino Tan, Colonial White, Bali Bronze Poly, Black and Gunmetal Gray Poly. These colors were available as all-over tones and were often used for detail work, contrasting a bolder paint color.

Torch Red

The 1958 Ford line included a bold Torch Red. This color was Ford's brightest shade.

Sun Gold

Some 1958 Ford vehicles were painted Sun Gold, a muted yellow, almost goldenrod. This color was the only available yellow or orange shade available.

1958 Ford Thunderbird

Ford overhauled its classic Thunderbird design in 1958 and included a hardtop model. Many collectors refer to the 1958 Thunderbird as a classic that defines this historic line. Thunderbirds were available in additional colors including Peach, Pink and Light Yellow.
