Do Impressions Of Famous People

Doing impressions is a fun and entertaining pastime. Comedians find that impressions are one of the quickest ways to an audiences heart. Celebrity impressions are an easy way to get a laugh and can provide hours of fun for the impressionist as well. However, doing an impression isn't as easy as it looks. Follow the steps needed to pull of a celebrity impression accurately and ensure the greatest possible reception.

Instructions

1. Pick a famous person to study in order to do research for your impersonation. Find someone you relate to, preferably someone who is the same sex as you as it will make a bit easier to be more accurate in your impersonation.

2. Search online for various resources to that person, including videos, biographies, movies or film appearances and television appearances. Absorb as much about that person as you possibly can.

3. Study their body movements, hand gestures, speech inflection, phraseology and demeanor to help you to get a good overview of what it means to be them. Pick a short clip and memorize what they say. Try to zero in on certain words and mimic them exactly as you hear them.

4. After memorizing a short clip, record yourself mimicking the characteristics of that person. Be very critical about your performance and compare it against the original clip of the person talking. Recruit a close friend or family member to watch you mimic the person you choose and ask for feedback. Other people are often more insightful about your performance.

5. Over exaggerate certain aspects of their personality to make your impersonation more funny and entertaining. Choose someone who is larger than life and that many people can identify and relate to if you want to make a splash at a party or social event. Work up to the point where you can do the impersonation on command and talk about anything.
