An HVLP siphon feed system has a small container on top.
HVLP spray systems use gravity or siphon feed to pull the paint into the sprayer nozzle. The nozzle is where the paint is ionized with air pressure. A siphon system is also used for sandblasting.
Requirements
Most local laws require the use of HVLP systems for painting, especially in the automotive industry. The advantage to this requirement is that it makes HVLP paint spray systems readily available and therefore relatively inexpensive.
Waste
The siphon feed sprayer uses less air pressure than conventional sprayers. Using less air pressure creates less overspray and provides greater control for the user.
Sandblasting
Sandblasting systems use either a siphon feed or a pressure feed. Many users of both systems prefer the siphon feed system of sandblasting for fine or detailed work projects. This system is also preferred for use on glass, as it is less likely to take out large chips in the glass.
