Fireworks Art Projects

Create crafts that focus on fireworks.

Help kids celebrate the 4th of July with some craft projects that focus on everyone's favorite Independence Day activity: Watching fireworks. Fireworks can make for sparkly, fun and interesting craft projects that will get everyone in the mood for the festivities that come along with the summer holiday.

Fireworks Painting

Mix acrylic paints in different colors with water to thin the paints considerably. On a sheet of white paper, use a paint brush to drop paint in a circular shape on to the paper. Make a few of these circles with different colors. Next, blow gently through a straw directly onto the blobs of paint. The paint will fly out and create a fireworks effect.

Coffee Filter Fireworks

Use white basket coffee filters to make cool looking firework flowers. Use craft paints to paint each filter either red or blue, leaving some parts of the filters white. You'll have to flatten the filters on to a work surface covered with paper to paint them easily, and paint both sides of the filters. You will need two painted filters to make one fireworks flower. Once the filters are dry, cut the edges of the filters into fringy strips. Don't cut into the center of the filter, though. Stack the filters on top of each other and poke a hole through the center. Thread a pipe cleaner through the hole, and use a small piece of pipe cleaner to secure it together. Arrange the strips as you like them.

Fireworks T-Shirts

Use plain white t-shirts and 3-D fabric paint to make cool fireworks t-shirts. Place a thick piece of cardboard inside the shirt before you paint, so the paint doesn't soak into the other side of the shirt. Squeeze the paint onto the shirt in firework designs, which look like the letter X. Make as many on the shirt as you like, using drops and lines to create interesting firework designs. The shirt will need to dry overnight before wearing.

Glittery Fireworks Art

Use a piece of black construction paper to make your glitter fireworks really pop. Use white glue to create fireworks shapes all over the paper. Sprinkle glitter in all different colors all over the glue, and shake off the extra glitter. Create as many glitter fireworks as you like.
