Complete Level Four In The Original Zelda

Level Four in the original Legend of Zelda is the hardest to complete up to that point. It contains darkened rooms and mini-bosses you may wish to avoid. The boss monster, Gleeock, is one of the strongest in the game.

Instructions

Preparation

1. Return to the seashore in the far east, then follow the coast until you see the dock. Use the raft to get to the island and get the Heart Container in the cave.

2. Get the Blue Ring if you didn't get it before Level Three. It can only be found under the Armos knights at the west end of the big lake and costs 250 rupees.

3. Replenish your Water of Life supply if you used it in Level Three. You should now do this before entering every labyrinth.

4. Follow the shore of the big lake until you see the dock. Use the raft to get to the entrance to Level Four.

Inside Level Four

5. Get the key in the room west of the entrance. Go north from the entrance, open the east door and get the compass.

6. Go back west, then north and get the key. Go west, then two doors north and open the east door.

7. Defeat the Vires and Kesses to open the east shutters. Defeat the monsters in the next room, push the west block and go down the stairs to get the ladder.

8. Go back two doors west and use the ladder to cross the water. Take the north door, then go east to get the map.

9. Bomb the north wall in the map room to get to the secret room with rupees. You'll also avoid the Manhandla that's behind the west wall.

10. Bomb the east wall, and defeat the Vires and Kesses in the next room. Push the west block to open the shutters and get to Gleeock.

11. Stand right in front of Gleeock and strike his heads repeatedly. Keep the Water of Life ready if your energy runs low.

12. Get the heart container once Gleeock is defeated, then go north to get the Triforce.
