Color With Watercolor Pencils

Watercolor pencils can be found at most art supply stores.

Watercolor pencils are similar to other colored pencils, except that watercolor pencil leads have a water-soluble base. They are easy to control and light and small to carry. Artists often apply watercolor pencil techniques to create a variety of effects. While it is easy to draw with watercolor pencils, it may take some practice to get used to applying techniques to create the desired look.

Instructions

Using Watercolor Pencils

1. Some artists like to use other mediums like ink or regular pencil on some lines in their watercolor pencil work.

Draw a picture on watercolor paper using watercolor pencils. You may wish to layer your watercolor pencils while drawing.

2. Watercolor pencils are often easier to work with than watercolor paints.

Dip a paintbrush in water and brush it over your drawing, pulling the color out of the drawing and creating a watercolor look.

3. Watercolor pencils can create interesting effects.

Allow your artwork to dry before signing and displaying it.
