ICP, otherwise known as Insane Clown Posse, is known for its hardcore, wicked sounds and incredible theatrics as musicians. ICP is recognized by the way it uses face paint. Juggalos (fans of ICP) can imitate the band by doing ICP face paint for parties, Halloween or when heading to an ICP concert.
Instructions
1. Look at a picture of Violent J or Shaggy 2 Dope, members of Insane Clown Posse, to get a feel for the type of face paint they do for their stage act. (See link in Resources to ICP's official website for photos.) The basic idea for the face paint is that of a clown's. The difference between ICP's face paint and a clown's is the coloring. ICP uses white and black face paint with a little red thrown in at times to give the appearance or persona of a wicked clown.
2. Outline the design of the wicked clown on your face using black eyeliner. The outline works best on the areas that will be filled in with black face paint. An example of this is to draw a triangle above the eyebrow with the tip of the triangle pointing towards the hairline and then to draw another triangle beneath the eye with the tip of the triangle pointing down. Draw a line around the mouth area to give the appearance of a wide, grinning mouth as would normally be seen in red on a clown's mouth.
3. Use your fingers to apply the white face paint around the areas that are outlined. Smooth the white face paint outward starting at the chin level. Guide your fingers gently around all of the eyeliner outlined areas. Use as much white face paint as you need to cover the entire area of the face. A second coat may be necessary to get the white face paint to appear more vibrant. Cover the chin, cheeks, nose and forehead with the white face paint.
4. Apply the black face paint to the areas of the face that are now surrounded by white face paint. This is the area that was previously outlined with eyeliner. You can use a finger to apply the paint or an eyeshadow brush to apply the face paint to these areas. Fingers used to apply the ICP face paint work better for larger spaces that need to be covered with the paint. Smaller brushes like an eyeshadow brush work well for small details and designs for the ICP face paint.
5. Incorporate red face paint into the wicked clown design, if desired. This gives the clown appearance a more sinister and vicious look. Small red clown designs in red such as on the nose area lend a psychopathic look to the ICP face paint.
