Peter Jackson has brought Tolkien's elves to the mainstream. Tolkien's elves are ethereal beings who are lithe and beautiful. If you wish to dress up and act like an elf, the best way is to try and emulate the elves in Tolkien's visionary novels.
Instructions
1. Tune into your natural side to act like an elf. Tolkien's elves conversed with, and lived in, trees. They existed in the most beautiful forests of the earth. Use the trees around you, or props in your vicinity, and incorporate them into your performance.
2. Walk and move with as much grace as you can muster. Elves are very smooth and move with fluidity. To act like an elf and move like one, you may need to practice pilates leading up to your performance to help with balance and grace.
3. Decide which type of elf you wish to act like. If you are a warrior, you should become accustomed to handling a bow and arrow. If you are part of the royal bloodline, wear jewels or a large ring, which you can touch lightly during your performance at key times.
4. Understand the lives of Tolkien's elves. They don't know disease or death in their colonies, and when you encounter such things, act like an elf by showing confusion and awe.
5. Bring the heavens into your performance when you act like an elf. Tolkien's elves are very star- and moon-driven, and if you can gaze at the stars at different times during your performance, you can bring the stars into your act.
