Bright circles give bedrooms a contemporary look.
Painting circles on your bedroom wall will make it pop and give it a contemporary flair. Circles and other geometric shapes can add lovely visual effects to any bedroom, especially if you make circles in two or three different colors. Many children and teenagers love the look of polka-dotted walls or huge colorful circles in colors to match their bedding and other decor.
Instructions
1. Draw a circle on a piece of paper or poster board. You can draw the circle by tracing around a round object with smooth surfaces, such as a large bowl, or you can use a pencil and a compass to make a perfect circle. You may wish to draw three or four different sizes of circles to use on your bedroom wall.
2. Place the circle template onto a sheet of clear plastic and trace around it with a sharpened pencil or permanent marker. You can use any type of clear thin plastic, such as a plastic sheet protector for schoolwork, or you can purchase clear acetate sheets from craft and hobby stores or online.
3. Cut out the circle shape from the clear plastic by using scissors or a craft knife. If you use a craft knife, you will need to place a heavy piece of cardboard underneath the stencil before cutting. You will be left with the plastic with a large hole in it, thus creating your circle stencil. Tape around any borders that you had to cut through to cut out the stencil, if you used scissors.
4. Attach the circle stencil to your wall by spraying it with a repositionable spray adhesive on the back of the stencil.
5. Paint inside the circle area. You will probably want to use a semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make your circles stand out.
6. Remove the circle stencil from your wall carefully while the paint is still wet. Wipe any excess paint off the stencil with paper towels so that it will not get onto the wall in the next spot where you place it. Press the stencil to your wall and make as many circles as you would like by repeating the process. Make sure to avoid touching any of the painted circles until they have dried for at least 24 hours.
