Best Sexual Position For Conception

There are a number of things you can do to increase your chances of getting pregnant. Many women simply have unprotected intercourse, and suddenly become pregnant. For some, it is not that easy. Changing your diet, exercising and even fertility treatments can aid in the conception of a baby. Other ways to increase your chances of conception involve the sexual positions you use with your partner.

Preparing

Preparing for sexual intercourse in the hopes of conceiving a child is important. Make sure your vaginal canal is clean of any artificial lubricants, as these are known to slow down sperm. It is also a good idea to take your temperature before you plan on having intercourse. If your temperature is slightly higher than normal, you may be ovulating. A temperature of 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit is normal but can fluctuate depending on your metabolism. If you are ovulating, then it's the ideal time to have sexual intercourse.

Positions

The position in which you have intercourse can affect your chances of getting pregnant. Many pregnancy experts claim that the missionary position is the best for conception because it allows the sperm to stay inside of the vagina rather than leak out. To further increase your chances of conception, you can place a pillow underneath your hips to elevate your pelvis. This will allow the sperm to swim downward, rather than upward, to the cervix.

Other Tips

If you must use sexual lubricants, choose a conception-friendly one. Pre-Seed is a feminine lubricant that is specifically designed with the safety of sperm in mind. Avoid sexual positions that involve straddling the man, or standing. If you have a tilted cervix, intercourse in which the man takes you from behind is ideal.
