Grants For Artists And Painters

Grants are available for artists and painters.

The art critic Robert Hughes once said that money did artists more harm than good. Unfortunately, artists and painters need money to survive like everyone else, and because of the nature of their work many find themselves struggling to pay the bills every month. However, there are several grants available to artists and painters to pay for the costs of projects and living expenses.

Gift of Freedom Award

Virginia Woolf once said that a woman needed a room of her own in which to write. With that necessity in mind, The Room of Her Own Foundation offers the Gift of Freedom Award to one woman writer every year. Applicants are required to complete an extensive application, which includes writing essays about their artistic life and the personal project the applicant wishes to complete over the grant period. Applicants are awarded $50,000.
