Grants For The Music Foundation

Foundations offer grants for music education and performers around the country


Music foundations offer grants and musical opportunities to help start and restore musical educational programs. Grants are also available for professional singers who are beginning a performing career. Some foundations encourage individuals and organizations to examine the effect that music has on health and behavior. Each foundation has different criteria for awarding grants and supports various areas in music. Music grants have been very important in providing music education for students and offering them an opportunity to explore the creative process through music.


Fender


The Fender Music Foundation offers grants and funding for national music programs, local music schools and music academies. The foundation has funded the Music in Schools Today program, which provides music education and opportunities to at-risk youth. The Creative Arts Program at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Program received funding and grants from the foundation, to teach music to oncology patients and examine its effect on treatment.


GRAMMY


The GRAMMY Foundation Grant Program offers grants to support the preservation of music and music's affect on the human condition. The foundation has looked for organizations that explore music's effect on healing and mood. Grants are also available for research groups studying the creative process in musical professionals. The foundation also supports organizations and individuals who focus on archiving recorded sound in America.


Richard Tucker


The Richard Tucker Music Foundation offers grants to young American opera singers who demonstrate promise at the beginning of their musical careers. It awards grants through a vocal competition and makes grants available at several career levels. In addition to awarding grants, the foundation offers master classes and concerts around the country.


Muzak Heart and Soul


The Muzak Heart and Soul Foundation offers a Music Matters Grant Program. The goal of the program is support for music education and to help children reach their musical potential. Music programs and schools throughout the country can apply for these annually-awarded grants. Priority goes to programs in need of instruments, educating K-12, serving economically disadvantaged students and implementing innovative educational reform.


National Endowment for the Arts


The National Endowment for the Arts offers grants in a wide range of musical areas. Grant opportunities are available with the Access to Artistic Excellence, Challenge America Fast-Track and Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth. The Access to Artistic Excellence supports musical preservation within a cultural heritage. The Challenge American Fast-Track grant supports music and the arts in under-served communities. Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth gives music education grants for children and youth in school and communities
