Common Colors For Classic Travertine Tile

Travertine comes in tones of beige and other colors.

Travertine is a type of limestone. It's used in its natural stone form as well as its polished state as floors, backsplashes, showers and sinks. Although travertine isn't as hard as granite, it's a hard, dense and nonporous stone ideal for kitchens and bathrooms. The stone comes in a variety of natural, earthy hues with veins and bands of complementary colors. Each stone is different and no two tiles are alike.

Ivory

Ivory is a popular travertine color. It's the lightest color variation. Ivory stones typically have accents of blush, gray or light sand colors throughout to provide depth. People select ivory for a more modern, crisp look. Ivory, especially when the stone includes a fair amount of gray, gives a cooling element to a room.

Walnut and Noce

Stones found in walnut and noce (also spelled noche) represent two common classic travertine options. Noce is a lighter version of walnut slightly pinker in color, while walnut is a darker shade of brown. These stone colors usually have more marbling of corresponding colors and less banding than other stone colors.

Beige, Cream and Yellow Tones

Perhaps the most common travertine colors are tones of beige, creams and yellow. These tones provide a natural component to a room and add a feeling of warmth. Depending on the individual stone, these warm tones usually have flecks and streaks of other beige colors throughout.

Gold

Classic travertine is also commonly found in shades of gold. Gold travertine tiles provide a richness and elegance to a room. Gold stones frequently include accents of yellow and brown tones that band and speckle the stone, creating a marble effect.

Red

Natural travertine also comes in shades of red. The color closely resembles a rust color as opposed to a brilliant red. It's commonly laced with brown, yellow and pink tones. It's a common color used in bathrooms.
