While you are going through different relationships, you will have to break up with guys from time to time. If relationships are hard, breaking up is even harder. The best way to handle a break up is to do it amicably, without anger. That is so much easier said than done, but it will definitely make your life easier in the long run.
Instructions
Break Up with a Guy Nicely
1. Make sure you really want to break up and aren't doing it out of anger or spite. People sometimes play games, and one game that some women play is to break up to make a guy "act right" or "treat them better." This will cause resentment and most likely backfire. If you have an issue, talk about it. If you want to break up, break up.
2. Don't break up with an audience. It's a personal thing that should be done during your personal time.
3. Be open and honest about why you want to break up. Don't be overly blunt, though. This is a good time to be nice with your words. Since you are the one doing the breaking up, you are in a position of power. The guy you're breaking up with will feel vulnerable and maybe even blindsided. Be gentle.
4. Be firm. If he gets upset and starts to beg or plead, which some guys may do, stand your ground. If you want to break up, there are reasons why, and you shouldn't allow yourself to be talked out of it. Don't allow yourself to be persuaded to continue a relationship you want to end.
5. Don't try to be friends. You may want to keep the guy around, especially if he's a really good person, but that is not a good idea right after a breakup. Walk away from the relationship completely. Give you and him time to heal. If after a lot of time has passed and you two can be friends, fine. But be very careful being friends because things can quickly go from simple to complicated.
