Atlanta Drag Strip Car Shows

Jet dragsters like these appear at the Atlanta Dragway.

Millions of people flock to car shows every year to find their favorite souped-up cars, enjoy some excitement and entertainment or to enter their own hot rod into a contest. For Georgia residents, the Atlanta Dragway has a 2011 schedule sure to please everyone. Its 1/4-mile asphalt drag strip offers drag racing at its best and car shows that include imports, muscle cars and jet dragsters.

Import Face-Off

The Import Face-Off event comes to the Atlanta Dragway on March 27, 2011. This show features a full day of activities that include a car, truck and bike show, 1/4-mile drag racing and a variety of contests and exhibitions. Spectator admission is $17 and children under 10 are free. Car and competition entry fees are $25, but it's free to enter the "Burnout" contest.

NMRA-NMCA National Drag Racing Event

The National Mustang Racers Association and the National Muscle Car Association annual drag racing event (NMRA-NMCA) arrives at the Atlanta Dragway April 15-17, 2011. This is two events rolled into the price of one. Catch the NMRA's all-Ford classes competition along with the NMCA's famous Chevy vs. Ford vs. Mopar battle. This event allows you to race your street car in an entry-level class. "Open Comp," "Modular Muscle" and "Super Stang" are some of the classes designed for new racers. Bring and show your American-made muscle car, hot rod, truck or specialty vehicle for a chance to win over 50 awards each day.

The NMRA-NMCA draws a variety of stock, modified muscle and showy, but beautiful collectible cars and hot rods from all over the country. This event also hosts one of the largest parts swap meets in the U.S. The manufacturers' midway is "the place" to find a deal on the performance parts you need for your muscle car or hot rod. There is also a used parts swap if you're in need of a part that is hard to find. Tickets range from $25 for a one-day spectator pass to $150 for a NMRA heads-up drag race participant.
