Be A Convincing Actor

Being a convincing actor requires training.

Convincing actors train for many years to perfect their craft, as very few people are able to dive into a character when they have little or no training. Various techniques are added to an actor's arsenal throughout her career, with most actors attempting new methods every time they go to an audition. Each actor has techniques that work best for him. Some actors will be selected to play weak characters, so they will adopt different styles than a person selected for a strong character. Some techniques, however, are suited to all actors.

Instructions

1. Know your lines inside and out. You don't want to think about what your line is; you should be experiencing your character's emotions in the scene. The lines should come out naturally.

2. Learn to feel what your character is experiencing before you say your lines. Without the foundation of emotions, the words will be stiff and forced. Acting should consist of reacting and then saying your lines.

3. Try not to care so much about getting the part. This could potentially be your big break, but the more emphasis you put on the scene, the less likely you are to relax and get into the character.

4. Look at the other actor and don't blink if you want to convey power. If you want to convey weakness, then blink. Always look at the other actor in the eye that is closest to the camera, with your eye that is furthest from the camera. Your face will then open up to the audience.

5. Wear the clothes that your character would wear. By masking yourself in your character's makeup and clothes, you'll be able to become that character more easily, especially if they are clothes that you would never wear.
