Choose A Song Style In Female Voice Training

Choose a Song Style in Female Voice Training

It's not hard to distinguish a trained voice from an untrained one even during a popular music style performance. Training the female voice requires songs that open up the throat and teaches vowel and diction techniques. This training will carry over into fun songs used in auditions and professional performances.

Instructions

1. Sing Italian songs for training. Use the long vowels and bright consonants to learn properly carry the voice. Italian diction encourages the throat to be open and most vowels to be "Ah" in nature, unlike the English language.

2. Use your classical Italian voice training to support different musical genres. You don't have to sing a pop song in an opera style spoof but the same breath support and open vowel sounds can be carried over into any style of song.

3. Let your personal music preferences guide your song choices first. If you are drawn to country then that vocal style probably suits you and can be further trained with your coach.

4. Record your voice singing different vocal styles and ask someone to help you critique them. A pronounced vibrato, for example, won't work as well in pop but may be great for the appropriate jazz or folk piece. A recording will help you narrow down which styles will work for your voice.

5. Choose a song style for a head or chest voice. If you like to belt out show tunes than the light, airy quality found in some love songs won't work well for you. Any song that will use your "best" voice is a good song style for you.
