Swirl marks will instantly age the appearance of your car.
Over time, auto paint can develop swirl marks or what are essentially light scratches in the paint where multiple washes, poorly applied wax or other abrasive materials have worn the clear coat and impacted the paint finish. These swirls can cause the paint to lose its luster to some degree and effect the overall appearance of the vehicle, making it look older and in poorer condition. Removing these swirl marks is a simple process if you follow these steps.
Instructions
1. Wash your car well using dish detergent and a clean sponge or rag. Make sure your rag is 100 percent cotton or you risk adding scratches to the paint. Rinse and dry the car well using a chamois cloth or clean cotton towel.
2. Place a new buffer pad onto the electric buffer machine and apply machine glaze to the pad following the guidelines on the bottle. Apply the glaze to the trouble areas on your car at a speed of 1,000 to 1,500 rounds per minute (RPM). The solution should go on easily and buff out scratches and swirls with little effort. Make sure to keep the buffer moving and do not let it sit in one place -- this will wear down the paint.
3. Replace the buffer pad with a clean one and pass over the treated area after allowing to dry for a few moments. Repeat this process on all areas where swirl marks appear. Do not wait until machine glaze has been applied everywhere before buffing, but take care of one area at a time.
4. Apply regular auto wax to your entire car, wait for it to dry and remove as you would normally. This step will create a protective layer over the newly treated paint as well as the rest of the car.
5. Wash your car using automotive car wash soap. Rinse and dry well.
