Draw Curves For Fireworks

Create perfect fireworks explosions on paper.

Fireworks are spectacular symbols of holidays like the Fourth of July and New Year's Eve. In your drawing, you want to capture that blast of color and those fiery explosions. The best way to do that is to have convincing curves. They are essential to really highlighting the shape of your fireworks drawing. Fireworks come in all colors. When drawing your curves, be sure to emphasize the shape with a variety of vibrant colors. While there are several kinds of fireworks, we are going to focus on a traditional banger that curves like an umbrella and falls from the heights of the night sky.

Instructions

1. Choose a black piece of paper. Black is best because it will allow the vibrant fireworks colors to highlight your paper night sky. On the paper draw a small circle with a colored pencil. This helps create the firework framework and serves as a spoke for the colors spiraling around it.

2. From the circle, draw several curved lines that spiral around the center dot. If you are using standard letter-size black paper, the curved lines will look nice at about 4 inches (under 5 cm) long. They can be larger or smaller, depending on the overall size of the fireworks display you want to create. Use a different colored pencil to draw shorter curved lines that follow the same pattern around the dot.

3. Draw small dots that fall and follow each curved line. This will add texture to your curved line and create the effect of falling sparkles.

4. Draw various fireworks around the page. Follow the same method and keep the lines of the curve symmetrical. The best way to practice is to draw more and more fireworks, experimenting with different colors.

5. Use a variety of vibrant colored pencils and chalks to outline your curved fireworks. Follow the pencil lines and use whites inside the firework lines to add tone.
