Create A Fake Fireworks Display

Adding a fake fireworks display to a Fourth of July, carnival or party scene will give it some extra decoration. You can place a fake firework display behind Ferris wheel model, for example. The fake firework gives the Ferris wheel some scenery. You can make fake fireworks with paint and glitter. The glitter makes the painted fireworks "pop." You can use any color of paint to make the fireworks, but brighter colors like red or blue work best.

Instructions

Paintbrush

1. Lay the black poster board on a flat surface.

2. Paint a small pea-sized dot onto the middle of the black poster board in any color.

3. Dip the paintbrush into any color of paint. Place the tip of the paintbrush 1/2 inch away from the pea-sized dot. Paint a thin, curved 3-inch line from the dot in any color. Add nine more lines around the dot in the same color used for the first line to finish the first part of the firework. Make more fireworks like this until the board is mostly full.

4. Shake glitter over the wet paint. The glitter will give the painted fireworks a sparkly look. Let the paint dry for four hours.

5. Shake the poster board over a trash can to remove the extra glitter.

Straw

6. Place the black poster board on a flat surface.

7. Place a thick blob of paint near the center of the black poster board.

8. Hold the straw at a 45-degree angle so the tip sits 1/2 inch above the paint blob.

9. Blow slowly into the straw to force the paint to move. As you blow through the straw, move it slowly around the paint blob to spread the paint in a firework shape.

10. Shake glitter over the paint. Let the paint dry for up to four hours. Tilt the poster board over a trashcan to remove the excess glitter.
