Create A Dolly Eyelash

The dolly eye is a term coined in the Asian world for eyes that resemble a doll's. Eye makeup is used to create an eye that looks brighter, larger and more enhanced than normal. One of the essential parts of a dolly eye is the lash itself (or dolly eyelash). In order to achieve the right look, the lash must be bold, long and curled. Creating the actual dolly eyelash is quite simple as long as you have the necessary tools.

Instructions

1. Apply an eyelid primer to your eyelids. An eyelid primer will make your makeup stay on for longer. Simply spread the primer over your lids and wait several minutes until it dries.

2. Spread a thin layer of dark, cool-tone eyeshadow over the lids with a cosmetic brush. This will make your eyes pop. Go for a medium to dark blue, green, gray or similar. Apply the shadow up to the crease in your eyelids. This will create the illusion of a much bigger, dolly-style eye.

3. Apply a medium-brown eyeshadow to the crease of each eyelid. Start from the inside of your eye and work your way out. Spread the shadow to the outer corners of your eyes and blend well.

4. Repeat the previous step, only this time use a dark gray or black eyeshadow to go over the brown. If possible, use a shadow with light shimmer to further enhance the eyes. Again, only apply the shadow to the outer corners of your eyes.

5. Apply a beige eyeshadow on the top of each eyelid, above the crease. Gently blend the color up to your brow and into the crease to create a smooth, even-looking surface.

6. Use a light, shimmery eyeshadow on the brow bone to further enhance the eyes.

7. Draw a line directly above the lash line with a black liquid eyeliner. Create a semithick line and wait several minutes for the eyeliner to dry. You can substitute an eye pencil, but liquid liner often packs more of a punch.

8. Line the bottom part of your eye with a white pencil. Apply a thin line starting from the inner corner of your eye, and work your way to the center of the eye only. The line should fall directly under your bottom lashes. This step helps finalize that dolly eye look.

9. Apply two coats of black mascara to your eyelashes. When they are dry, use an eyelash curler to make them curl upward. Also consider using false eyelashes. Fake lashes are easy to apply and save you time and energy in the long run. You can purchase whatever type of eyelash you prefer. Some are extra long and others are especially curly. You can find faux lashes at most places where cosmetics are sold.
